Psychoeducational Evaluations

As a bilingual (Spanish) school psychologist in a fast paced urban environment, Laura Luna has mastered the ability to provide comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations that result in an accurate and detailed picture of the student’s learning profile. In concise, easy to understand language adhering to state and federal guidelines, Laura’s evaluations can help identify and define appropriate educational goals.

Comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations include cognitive (i.e. intellectual) abilities, academic achievement levels, information processing abilities, and general emotional and behavioral issues, when appropriate. In addition to conducting these evaluations in English and Spanish, Laura’s evaluation style also takes into account relevant cultural and historical information in her formulations.

Laura is available on a contractual basis for school systems that need a bilingual and highly skilled evaluator with a wealth of experience and excellent communication skills.

Conference Speaker

Recent research in neuroscience has yielded a wealth of information that has altered our understanding of how humans learn, relate to one another and change over the lifespan. Laura Luna is an intelligent and highly skilled consumer or neuroscience research and she is able to share this information in practical, engaging and clear ways to children, parents, educators and entrepreneurs. Her training as School Psychologist and doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology have provided her with an arsenal of research based knowledge, but her wit, humor and relatable personality are what keep organizations inviting her to speak again and again. Her experience as an immigrant growing up in the inner city permeates her knowledge and underscores her perennial message: the brain is highly plastic, and human beings can change.

Laura has presented primarily on how the brain is altered by poverty and trauma, and how this impacts learning and relationships across the lifespan. Additionally, she has presented on neural bases of attachment in relationships as well how to use neuroscience to promote effective leadership in corporate settings.

No matter the topic, conference attendees always leave feeling connected, refreshed and energized by Laura’s humor and her ease in presenting potentially complicated information in a clear and engaging way.

Fantastic presentation. Laura was heartfelt, articulate, and related to all humans, whether in the work field or in scenarios that implicated children from immigrant families.
